- DIRECTOR: Peter Hyams
- ACTORS: Elliott Gould, James Brolin, Brenda Vaccaro, Sam Waterston, O.J. Simpson, Hal Holbrook, Karen Black, Telly Savalas, David Huddleston, David Doyle
- PLOT: When a mission to Mars goes overbudget, a NASA administrator forces the astronauts to act out their mission on a soundstage and is willing to kill anybody who stands in the way.
- EVALUATION: An amusingly exaggerated paranoia film that is surprisingly underrated compared to its more highly-acclaimed antecedents
- WRITING: Surprisingly witty, with a healthy dose of 70s psedo-natural dialogue mixed in
- FILMING: Hyams and cinematographer Bill Butler capture some great shots of the American southwest and that creepy soundstage, not to mention some surprisingly good aerial combat footage
- BEST PART: Hal Holbrook delivering an absolutely riveting speech to the astronauts about the necessity of their participation
- TRIVIA:
IMDB claims that the snake eaten by Brolin was actually stuffed with raw fish, which is somehow worse.
- STINGER: Telly Savalas yelling "perverts!"
