- DIRECTOR:
John Guillermin
- ACTORS:
Peter Ustinov, Lois Chiles, Mia Farrow, Simon MacCorkindale, David Niven, Bette Davis, Maggie Smith, Angela Lansbury, Olivia Hussey, Jon Finch, Jack Warden, Jane Birkin, George Kennedy
- PLOT:
A love triangle turns deadly as Poirot accompanies an eclectic group of tourists on a scenic cruise down the Nile.
- EVALUATION:
An adequate adaptation of one of Christie's less convincing stories, featuring an all-star cast and a version of Poirot that is better than Albert Finney but worse than David Suchet.
- WRITING:
It's not obvious that the screenplay adds much to the source material.
- FILMING:
Great location scenery and an amusing approach to showing multiple versions of what could have happened (always culminating in the same character getting shot in the head)
- BEST PART:
Angela Lansbury as the sex-obsessed alcoholic
- TRIVIA:
Peter Ustinov served as David Niven's real-life batman in World War II.
- STINGER:
Those kids on the shore mooning Bette Davis
