  • Date: 06/15/24
  • Location: home
  • DIRECTOR: various
  • ACTORS: Deems Taylor (narrator), Leopold Stokowski (conductor), Walt Disney (Mickey's voice)
  • PLOT: Vibrating notes, dancing mushrooms, magical brooms, dinosaurs dying, cavorting centaurs, hippo ballerinas, and the mountainous personification of Satan, I suppose.
  • EVALUATION: Likely the most ambitious animated film of all time, Fantasia mixes classical music with immensely creative visuals in an almost entirely effective visual spectacle for the ages.
  • WRITING: Okay, the narration is not that interesting, but it helps to break up the musical segments.
  • FILMING: Great use of multi-plane animation, vibrant colors, and creative visual distortion effects.
  • BEST PART: Chernabog cowering in fear of a church bell, although you could make an argument for about ten other parts just as easily
  • TRIVIA: The wizard's name is Yen Sid in a reversed reference to his creator.
  • STINGER: Mickey getting a broom to the backside
