- Every once in a while, a film like Fellini's Satyricon comes along to remind me of the value of writing reviews. Not that I have anything especially profound to say about this film, which I generally detested, but rather because now I can go reread my reviews of his other films to get this terrible taste out of my mouth. As much as I loved La Dolce Vita and 8 and a Half, this one was an intentionally ugly nightmare that had me rooting for the barbarians at Rome's gate. When one of the cast members farted at the audience repeatedly, it felt a little redundant.
