  • DIRECTOR: Kevin Konrad Hanna and Jim Demonakos
  • ACTORS: Mike Mignola, Guillermo del Toro, Ron Perlman, Ben Saunders, Art Adams, Patton Oswalt, Rebecca Sugar, Jorge R. GutiĆ©rrez
  • PLOT: The story of how Mike Mignola went from a nerdy kid to the still-nerdy creator of the largest shared comic book universe outside of Marvel and DC.
  • EVALUATION: Somebody who didn't already love Hellboy wouldn't enjoy this film at all, but I found it to contain several very interesting details about Mignola's history and creative processes.
  • WRITING: It's not always easy to make a person's life seem all that interesting, particularly when they spend much of it sitting at a drafting table, but they do their best.
  • FILMING: There is some fun behind-the-scenes footage from the movies, but the large comic panels are probably the best visual choice.
  • BEST PART: Tough guy Ron Perlman moved to tears reminiscing about seeing The Hunchback of Notre Dame for the first time.
  • TRIVIA: Either that Mike and his friends invented Fizzball or that the star on Steven Universe's shirt came from a suggestion he made.
  • STINGER: Christine Beatty Mignola (Mike's wife) saying that she would probably have to work the rest of her life to support them the first time she heard about Hellboy.
