  • DIRECTOR: Mario Bava
  • ACTORS: Barry Sullivan, Norma Bengell, Ángel Aranda, Evi Marandi, Franco Andrei, Federico Boido, Stelio Candelli, Alberto Cevenini, Mario Morales, Ivan Rassimov, Massimo Righi, Fernando Villeña
  • PLOT: A team of leather-clad astronauts finds itself marooned on a planet where mysterious life forms can possess dead bodies.
  • EVALUATION: Bava excels at elevating material like this, creating a memorably creepy horror film out of a decidedly pulp premise.
  • WRITING: Unremarkable, containing constant mentions of the meteor rejector device.
  • FILMING: Excellent scenery, both in the sterile reflective spaceships and the fog-drenched volcanic planet.
  • BEST PART: That tour of the alien ship is legitimately creepy.
  • TRIVIA: From its giant unexplained skeletons on a foggy planet to its parasites seeking to take over the ship, the film is obviously a huge influence on Alien, which was apparently acknowledged by writer Dan O'Bannon.
  • STINGER: Captain touches the shocking device and gets a shock immediately after being told that it delivers a shock.
