  • DIRECTOR: James Cameron
  • ACTORS: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong, Robert Patrick, Earl Boen, Joe Morton
  • PLOT: Two cyborgs travel back in time to 1995, one (Schwarzenegger) to save a young future revolutionary (Furlong) and the other (Patrick) to assassinate him and his mother (Hamilton).
  • EVALUATION: If the original Terminator is Appetite for Destruction, this one reminded me more of the the unnecessary covers and baroque excesses of the Use Your Illusion albums.
  • WRITING: Not nearly as sharp as the first film with more expository narration and awful slang than I would like.
  • FILMING: Cameron still films action setpieces like nobody else, and the multiple chase sequences involving semis still hold up.
  • BEST PART: Probably the escape from the mental institution, although the frozen T-1000 comes pretty close.
  • TRIVIA: The scene in which the T-1000 imitates Sarah Connor was performed by Linda Hamilton and her twin sister.
  • STINGER: The Terminator gives a thumbs-up as it dies.
