  • Date: 12/15/24
  • Location: home
  • DIRECTOR: Walter Hill
  • ACTORS: Michael Beck, James Remar, Deborah Van Valkenburgh, Marcelino Sánchez, David Harris, Tom McKitterick, Brian Tyler, Dorsey Wright, Terry Michos, David Patrick Kelly, Roger Hill, Edward Sewer, Lynne Thigpen, Thomas G. Waites, Paul Greco, Kate Klugman
  • PLOT: A gang of street toughs gets blamed for assassinating a messianic gang leader, forcing them to battle their way back home from the Bronx to Coney Island.
  • EVALUATION: A truly bizarre action film about commuting that never manages to deliver on the propulsive energy of its opening credits, featuring one of the ugliest casts ever to populate a major theatrical release and flamboyant gang outfits galore.
  • WRITING: The writing doesn't really try to elevate the material, which is probably for the best.
  • FILMING: Plenty of great footage of some surprisingly vacant NYC streets and subway tunnels.
  • BEST PART: Lynne Thigpen (the Chief from Carmen Sandiego!) as a radio DJ narrating the film and/or issuing gang orders.
  • TRIVIA: The character played by Thomas G. Waites gets hit by a subway train because the actor was feuding with Hill.
  • STINGER: "Hey Warriors, come out to play-ay!"
